MaraTone: A Music Marathon

Maratone: Is a marathon of tone- music performances that take place Saturdays in 2009 at the Ben Navaee Gallery premises. MaraTone a lengthy (all year long) contest that includes many musical performances by local artists in any music genre.

What’s in it for the artists:

A. Prizes:

1. The winner performances (solo/band) get all the money raised through out the contest.

2. Ben Navaee Gallery will as well give a framed limited edition art print to the winning musicians.

3. Any product or services donated by local businesses will be directed to the winning artists

4. Each performance will be photgraphed, and a video will be made.

B. CD sales

Musicians are welcomed to sell their CDs during their

performance.

C. Recording of performances

All performances will be audio / video recorded which

can be used for artists’ web sites, etc.

D. Promotion

We promote the performances through posters, our

website and the listings through out the city.

Participation:

</div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>  Winners selection process:   The winners will be in 2 parts: 1. Performances selected by the performing artists     themselves. (all individuals and ensembles/bands     selected performance will be posted on our web site for    viewing and voting) 2. Audience selected winners which is based on    donations made by them towards each performance*.  * If an artist has $200 in donations, which was donated by 10 people and another artist had $200 donation from 5 people, this will be judged by the accumulated points. The points will be counted as 200 x 10 = 2000 points and the latter will be 200 x 5 = 1000 points.   Minimum donation is $5.  The donations will be counted at the end of each live performance and recorded.  All performances will be audio / video recorded and one of the best performances of each artist /ensemble will be posted on the website for the performers' votes.  Participating artists vote for their favorite performance and have 50% of the votes, and another 50% is the vote of audience. Votes of audience will be counted by the amount of cash donations or goods and services that the local businesses offer to their favorite performances.
